Our Mission Point Loma Electric, Inc. opened for business in the beach area in June of 1988. Owned and operated by James Dent, PLE, as we are often called, has been a highly visible fixture in this community for quite some time. Our 1985 Grumman Olsen step van is well known throughout Ocean Beach and the Peninsula! In December of 2004, after living in Ocean Beach for 20 years, James moved to valley center, a farming community 12 miles northeast of Escondido. James had already realized that trying to do business closer to home as Point Loma Electric in North East County, was not going to be possible. Because of the company's geographic name, PLE would only be able to remain active in the Beach area. That made James' daily commute a 3 hour ordeal. In August of 2004, James had already incorporated a new business by the name of Wireman Incorporated. This was going to be James' new business venture near his new home in Valley Center. With a lot of hard work, a lot of determination and a little bit of luck, Wireman Incorporated did fairly well in North County in the first year, with an office in Escondido, while living with wife Sandra in Valley Center. "After 2 years as Wireman Incorporated, we realized that our best calls and our best jobs were still continuing to come from the beach and the Point Loma area. North County customers made for long commutes between jobs because it is so spread out, some areas very rural, and on top of that, I had to continue to service the beach area customers I'd had for years. It made for a 14 hour day, mostly driving to and from customers, and I realized that I had to go back to where I'd been for 17 years, and open shop once again where every customer, every job was 5 to 10 minutes away." |
So, in December of 2006, James said goodbye to Escondido, closed Wireman Incorporated, and began working once again as Point Loma Electric, Inc. "I'm back to working normal hours and I'm saving as much as $700 a month in diesel truck fuel for only one truck! My old customers are glad that I'm back and it's great to hear that from them, it really is. Unfortunately, it also means that I live apart from my wife during the work week. That's the only down side." All calls to Wireman are now directed to Point Loma Electric, Inc. "We will continue to service the North County area, if we get calls from Wireman's customers, but all the North County yellow page ads have been cancelled. We keep only one yellow page ad now, and that is in the San Diego metro yellow page book as Point Loma Electric, Inc. We also dropped all of our north county phone numbers." James Dent, owner, operator, office manager, and master electrician, will personally come to your home with his fully stocked Isuzu "Warehouse on Wheels" truck. "If I don't have your part on my truck, the service call is free". Some restrictions apply. This single page web site is a work in progress. We expect you to
be able to order service right from our site within a month or so. Wireman's
site was 6 pages of information. We are in the process of converting that
information to reflect Point Loma Electric, Inc. Thank you for your patience
and your continued support of PLE for the past 20 years! |
